Indian origin Guantanamo Bay lawyer, world’s youngest doctor awarded

गैर सरकारी संगठन इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर रिसर्च एण्ड डाक्यूमेटेशन   इन सोशल साइन्सेंस (आईआरडीएस) , लखनऊ   द्वारा चतुर्थ आईआरडीएस अवार्ड 2013 सन्नी हुन्दल (प्रिंट मीडिया), सिमरन सेठी ( इलेक्ट्रोनिक मीडिया), माया अजमेरा (मानव अधिकार) , गीतांजलि गुटीरेज (विधि) , बालमुरली अम्बाती ( चिकित्सा), यशवीर सिंह (प्रबंधन) तथा राजू नारायणस्वामी (शासकीय सेवा) को दिये गए. ब्रिटेन स्थित सन्नी हुन्दल धार्मिक अन्धता के विरुद्ध प्रयासरत राजनैतिक ब्लॉगर हैं जबकि यूएस स्थित सिमरन पर्यावरण पत्रकार हैं. मेरीलैंड स्थित माया ग्लोबल फंड फोर चिल्ड्रेन की संस्थापक हैं और गीतांजलि गुंतानामो बे के कैदियों के लिए लड़ रही हैं. बालमुरली सत्रह साल में विश्व के सबसे कम उम्र के डॉक्टर बने थे. यशवीर सामजिक उद्यमिता के बढ़ावे के लिए प्रयासरत हैं और केरल कैडर के आईएएस अधिकारी राजू अपनी विशिष्ठ कार्यप्रणाली के लिए विख्यात हैं .
ये पुरस्कार 45 वर्ष से कम आयु के भारतीय मूल के लोगों को दी जाती है. पुरस्कारों का चयन सामाजिक रूप से सक्रीय आईपीएस अधिकारी अमिताभ ठाकुर की अध्यक्षता वाली जूरी द्वारा किया गया.

Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS), a Non-governmental organization from Lucknow presents the Fourth IRDS awards 2013 to Sunny Hundal (Print Media), Simran Sethi (Electronic Media), Maya Ajmera (Human Rights), Gitanjali Gutierrez (Law), Balamurali Ambati (Medicine), Yashveer Singh (Management) and Raju Narayanswamy (Government services).
Britain based Sunny is a political blogger fighting against religious obscurantism while US based Simran is an environmental journalist. Maryland based Maya is the founder of Global Fund for Children while Gitanjali is defending Guantanamo prisoners . Baramurali became world’s youngest doctor at 17. Yashveer is founder of the National Social Entrepreneurship Forum while Kerala Cadre IAS officer Raju is well-known for his independent functioning.

These awards are given to people of Indian origin of age up to 45 years. The jury for the award was headed by socially active IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.
